"Work season" began for Darren towards the end of July, but we were able to sneak away for a Saturday/Sunday trip to Glenwood Springs with our friends, Clair and Troy, to celebrate her birthday. We had so much fun, and it was nice to get away before football gets too crazy for Darren. When we arrived, we hiked to Hanging Lake - here are just a few of the amazing pictures we took on our hike and once we arrived at Hanging Lake.

...And look at this cute little guy! He found someone's rice cake and was nibbling away. I know chipmunks are rodents, but they sure are cute. I wanted to put him in my pocket and bring him home as a pet!!! That wouldn't have gone over very well with the kitties though...

Clair and Troy - they were able to walk out onto a huge tree that lays across the lake - you aren't allowed to disturb the water; that's what keeps it so beautiful, but you can walk out onto this log - I guess you just have to hope that you don't fall in!!! Otherwise, you disturb the ecosystem, and the eco freaks will get mad at you!!! I wouldn't blame them though - it's so beautiful that you don't want to disturb it.

This is me and Clair! We were on our way to dinner - we ate at "Atmosphere," a French-American Bistro. It was SO good!!

On Sunday, we went to Adventure Park - it's a small park on top of the cliffs in Glenwood, and there's a tiny park there with an Alpine Coaster (way fun!!) and a few others. This picture is of Darren and I on the Sling Shot - we were pulled up by cables, and then let go - soaring above the canyon - it was so scary, but it was also fun - if you can get over the terror of anticipating the drop, it is an amazing view over the canyon.
