Whew! It was a busy, but productive weekend. So sad that tomorrow is Monday already.
We worked in the yard, replacing a couple of trees that didn't make it. One of them (a Crimson Sentry Maple) wasn't doing great last year when we first put it in, and most of it didn't come back this year, so we were able to exchange it for a new one. The other one (my favorite tree we planted last year), a Vanderwolf Pine, was eaten by stupid voles. We're going to have to take extra measures this winter to make sure they don't do the same thing this next year, but I loved the tree too much to not replace it. We also sprayed our windows in the back yard, the deck and lower patio. Our patio furniture was also in need of a cleaning, so it all got a good spray-down as well.
We had our friends, Troy and Clair over for dinner on Saturday and went over to our neighbor's house for dinner on Sunday night while watching the Magic defeat the Celtics. Love spending time with good friends and enjoying good food. We grilled both nights - love that the weather is getting nice enough to grill on the weekends.
In addition to all that, I had school on Saturday morning; Darren coached 3 games (he was asked to be the assistant coach for our neighbor's flag football team). I wasn't able to attend the Saturday games, but I did attend the Sunday afternoon game. They had fun, but did not get to go all the way to the championship game.
It seems like there's never enough time in the weekend to get everything done, but I do feel like we were productive. On a sad note, my heart goes out to Kristi (my sister), Stuart, and the kids. They had to put their 15-year old dog down this weekend. They are heart-broken and are going to miss him so much. They have had him longer than Shelbi has been alive. He was a sweet dog and was such a big part of their family. Please pray for them that their hearts will heal.
Here's to another new week!
