First Barbie and Playin Around

This was around 5:30 one evening - I had someone coming over for a haircut, and she knew it, so we think she just put herself to sleep because she knew I'd be leaving her for a little while.  I didn't love that it was 5:30 in the evening when she fell asleep (and we could not get her to wake up), but I sure enjoyed the snuggly moments with her!

Peyton's first Barbie!  We were in Target one afternoon, looking for a birthday present for our goddaughter.  At that point, Peyton still wasn't showing much interest in toys (this was in early December) when we went to a store.  On this particular day, she was riding in the cart and demanded that I stop as we were cruising down the Barbie aisle.  She fixed her eyes on this Barbie and asked if she could hold it.  So, I let her pick it up.  She just stared at it, and then she signed, "Mommy."  I thought she was the best little girl in the world for thinking her mommy looks like a Barbie!  She then wrapped her arms around it and smiled, so I let her keep it in the cart.  I figured we'd buy it, take it home and see if she still showed interest in it after a few days before opening it.  Sometimes she  likes something just in that moment and then doesn't ever go back to it after it's actually at home.  It sat on a table for several days, and she kept looking at it and holding the package, so on this evening, I finally opened it for her.

She loves the doggies that came with Barbie, but she hasn't played with Barbie since the night we opened the package.  Oh well!  Maybe one day she'll pick her back up and want to play with her!  As it turns out, I think she loves the accessories that came with Barbie rather than Barbie herself.  Too funny - typical kid, right?

We have this stool that is really hard to fold up, so we left it out for a few days, and Peyton found a use for it.  She practices climbing up and down; up and down; up and down.  She's becoming quite good at it!

Peyton received her first Christmas Card on December 7th.  It came from Papa Jerry and Nana Shari from Chicago.  They also sent her $10, which we put into her piggy bank.  I love Christmas cards!

Peyton has become very innovative - here, you can see that she took the step stool from the kitchen to the dining room so she could reach some of her toys that she placed on the table.

Peyton teasing me as I try to capture a photo of her sitting on the kitty chaise...

Ahhh....haaaa!  Caught her in the act!

Peyton LOVES having her picture taken behind the tri-pod.  One morning, she took me to the closet in her playroom, where I keep the tri-pod, and asked me to take it out.  Then, she sat down in front of it and smiled, so I went and grabbed the camera, and we snapped a few photos of ourselves.  I love how excited she gets when I bring it out, but it only works if I'm in the photo with her.  I think she thinks it's fun to run from the camera to the spot where the photo will be taken.  Hey - if it gets us a photo, I'll do it behind the tri-pod!

Peyton LOVES stacking and organizing.  As you can see in these photos, she has become fascinated with the canned goods, which are stored on the lazy susan in the kitchen - bonus since it turns around!  Now she has a fun cabinet AND toys to play with while I am cooking.  She is very methodical about how she arranges her goods.  Check it out!  Two different designs, but all very organized!
