Grandma Sandy’s (Darren’s mom) birthday was earlier in the month, so Peyton and I thought we’d make a trip down to Colorado Springs to take her to lunch. Deanna, Regan, and Chase (Darren’s sister, niece, and nephew) also met us there. We went to Mimi’s, and Peyton got her first skinned knee as she ran through the parking lot in excitement over getting out of the car! It was her longest car ride 0in a car seat to date (about an hour), and she fussed and squirmed the last 15-20 minutes of our drive down there. Not a fan of the car seat for that long! Grandma had a Grinch stuffed animal for her and a Hello Kitty purse filled with goodies. She loved the lip gloss and purse, but she wasn’t a huge fan of the Grinch, but he sat at the table with us while we ate, and he came back home with us. One day, she’ll like him!
We had a nice lunch with everyone, and Peyton was such a cutie pie with everyone, especially Chase. She played a game of “drop my lip gloss on the bench and see if he’ll pick it up for me” with him. She gave a few rounds of knuckles, and after lunch, she walked the sidewalks with Grandma. Then, we went over to Grandma’s house to see her new carpet, furniture, and fresh paint. While we were there, we sat on the front steps, and Peyton touched her first flower and plant leaves! She even held a flower! She made funny faces, but she did it repeatedly. Big milestone!
Grandma was so happy we came down and thoroughly enjoyed spending some time with her newest granddaughter.
